What can I expect the day of the test?
Arrive 15 minutes early to allow the reception team to check you in for your procedure. Your technologist will then bring you into the nuclear medicine suite and conduct a brief patient interview to determine specifics about the reason for your visit. After that brief interview, your technologist will inject you with a radioactive tracer that will allow them to take pictures of your salivary glands. After those initial pictures, you will be given a sour beverage to stimulate your salivary glands. After that stimulus, your salivary glands will be imaged again.
