Years Practicing: 12
Dr. Galiwango started his career as a Cardiologist at CorCare and Rouge Valley Health System, where he is now the Co-Director of the Cardiac CT Angiography program. He comes from a family of Health Care professionals, which not only exposed him to healthcare but sparked his interest in the field. “I think I definitely was influenced by the fact that I had two healthcare professionals as role models in my house. I grew up in a smaller town, so there were a lot of my friends and peers who were looked after by my dad as their pediatrician. It was impressive to see how they were gratified by the care they got, and the appreciation their parents would show to him. It showed the virtues of being a healthcare provider…”
He graduated from the University of Toronto, where he completed his undergraduate degree, Medical School, Internal Medicine Residency, and Cardiology Fellowship. He subsequently did his Research Fellowship at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute. While at the Ottawa Heart Institute his main interests were in Cardiac CT and Nuclear Cardiology. Both these areas remain his primary focus as he continues to participate in research collaborations with the Ottawa Heart Institute.
He is now a co-author of the Canadian Guidelines for use of Cardiac CT imaging and has also made appearances on Global TV.
